The Trial Of Mary Dugan 1929
Storyline
When she discovers the dead body of her wealthy, married lover, showgirl Mary Dugan (Norma Shearer) is arrested and tried for murder. In court, district attorney Galway (H.B. Warner) immediately denigrates Mary’s lifestyle through the testimony of various witnesses. When Mary’s attorney, Edward West (Lewis Stone), provides only minimal challenges, her brother (Raymond Hackett), a recent law school graduate, demands to take over Mary’s defense and allows her to testify on her own behalf.
