Der Untergang der Bismarck : ( The Sinking of the Bismarck )

The most powerful Battleship of its time

The Bismarck was the largest and most powerful Battleship of its time. When the mighty warship was launched in February 1939, the German Wehrmacht relied on the heavy armament and the young crew. With this ship, the navy was above all able to take it up in the Atlantic supply war with the British battle fleet. Thus, the Bismarck and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen ran out on 18 May 1941 to sever the British lifeline. But it should be a ride without return. In a merciless hunt of the British Navy, the Bismarck was sunk on May 27, 1941. Of the 2,221 men, only 115 were saved. This documentary traces the construction, deployment and final battle of the Bismarck. With impressive original shots and the latest findings, the drama is told about the mightiest battleship of his time.
