1964: Is WALES rife with WITCHCRAFT? | Witch! | Weird and Wonderful | BBC Archive

“Reasoning man tried to stamp out the beliefs of his forefathers, he failed. Witchcraft is with us today.” Classic BBC documentary, narrated by John Darren, investigating the cult of witchcraft in Wales, produced by the Wales Today unit. Self confessed witches describe their powers and the reasons for their beliefs. A coven of witches practice a fertility ritual around a blazing bonfire for the BBC cameras. Reverend WD Williams – a lifelong student of witchcraft – elaborates on some of the strange powers witches wield, and shares some of his own experiences. NB: The original audio on this track had degraded quite severely, so some minor restorative work has been done in an attempt to make it more audible. Clip taken from Witch!, originally broadcast on BBC Television, Tuesday 23 June, 1964. Credit to : BBC Archive
